Habitica is a free habit building and productivity app that treats your real life like a game. With in-game rewards and punishments to motivate you and create a strong social network to inspire you, Habitica can help you achieve your goals to become healthy, hard-working, and happy.

The online application is laid out like an RPG (role-playing game) that allows users collect items like gold and equipment to become stronger. You can achieve rewards and treasure through maintaining life goals in the form of Habits, Dailies, and To-Dos. These goals can also give you experience points if you finish them and they damage your character if you fail to complete them. This helps you stay motivated to attempt to achieve your goals the following day.

The most unique feature of Habitica that separates it from the other task-oriented applications is the social aspect. You can join a party or a guild to hold you accountable on your goals. Users can start or join parties with their peers to fight boss monsters. Parties damage the monsters based on how many tasks they complete, and the boss damages the party based on how many tasks they did not complete. Guilds are groups that hundreds of users can join. The guild issue challenges that add unique goals to your Habits, Dailies, and To-Dos based on the guild’s theme. When users complete the challenges, they are rewarded with pets and such. Users can also collaborate with guilds on projects to help build a project-focused community.

You can join Habitica here. You can also download the app on iOS and Android.
