Sure, you could open up drive then search, but how about just searching drive from the address bar instead. This can easily be set up in just a few steps.

  1. Open up Chrome’s settings and find Manage Search Engines
  2. Click Add
  3. Name your Search. I’ve used “Google Drive”
  4. Name your shortcut. I’ve used “gd”
  5. For the URL enter this:
    https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/search?q=%s
  6. Click the Add button

Now in the address bar type gd followed by your search terms. What should appear are the results from your Google Drive account.
